How does the profile of a course relate to the study motivation amongst Bachelor TU/e students of the faculties Industrial Design(ID) and Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences(IE&IS)?

We started this course with the following research question: ‘How does the profile of a course relate to the study motivation amongst Bachelor TU/e students?’. However, the purpose of this course was not only to answer this research question, but also to learn more about SPSS and how to validate data.

To collect data we made a Google Form that we send to TU/e students that we knew, and we also asked them to send it to TU/e students they know. This way we do not only have people we personally know. We also asked students from every faculty, in order to be able to represent the whole TU/e with our data set. Additionally, we walked around campus to let students fill in the same questionnaire on paper.

With our gathered data, we firstly calculated descriptive statistics; mode, means and medians. Furthermore we calculated frequency distributions, standard deviations, IQV’s, IQR’s and the Cronbach Alpha.

To test our hypothesis, we performed a one-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis calculation.
